Discover the
cradle of wine.
Georgia is widely recognized as the cradle of wine, home to the world’s oldest continuous winemaking tradition, dating back more than 8,000 years. Long before modern wineries existed, ancient Georgians were fermenting and aging wine in a way that remains largely unchanged today.
At Qvevri Market in Round Rock, Texas, we are proud to share this heritage through carefully selected Georgian wines from respected wineries and winemakers. Whether you are new to Georgian wine or a longtime enthusiast, we invite you to explore one of the world’s oldest and most distinctive wine traditions.

I
The story of qvevri winemaking
A vessel buried in the earth.
The name qvevri (pronounced “kway-vree”) comes from the large egg-shaped clay vessels used in Georgian winemaking for thousands of years. Unlike modern tanks or barrels, they are buried underground, where natural temperatures create ideal conditions for fermentation and aging.
01Whole grapes go in. Skins, seeds, and sometimes stems are placed directly into the vessel.
02The earth keeps the temperature. Buried in the ground, the clay stays naturally cool and steady.
03The wine develops naturally, over several months, without hurry.
04The result is wine of character: remarkable complexity, texture, and a deep connection to the land.
Every bottle tells a story spanning thousands of years.
